Inspiring the Next Generation: Student Matinees at Theatre Huntsville

Live Theatre for Students in Huntsville

Theatre Huntsville is excited to welcome students back to the Von Braun Center Playhouse for special student matinee performances during our 2025–26 season.

These daytime shows are designed to connect the classroom to the stage, giving middle and high school students a chance to experience literature, history, and storytelling in a whole new way.

In the 2025–26 season, we are offering two dynamic productions that blend education and entertainment:

The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley

Student Matinees: November 19 & 20, 2025 at 9am
Cost:
$5 per student
Location: Von Braun Center Playhouse
Download information sheet here

Set in Jane Austen’s beloved world, The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon invites audiences downstairs into the servants’ quarters at Pemberley. While the Darcys celebrate upstairs, new secrets and unexpected guests stir up drama below.

This witty and heartfelt holiday play offers plenty of discussion topics for English and literature classes: themes of class, loyalty, forgiveness, and family alongside Austen’s timeless wit.

It’s a perfect companion piece for classrooms already reading Pride and Prejudice.

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare

Student Matinees: January 28 & 29, 2026 at 9am
Cost:
$5 per student
Location: Von Braun Center Playhouse

Love triangles, mistaken identities, and plenty of laughs, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night remains one of the Bard’s most popular comedies. Our modern setting production makes Shakespeare fresh, accessible, and engaging for today’s students, helping them see that 400-year-old plays still have plenty to say about friendship, love, and identity.

Twelfth Night aligns with many high school English and Theatre curriculum standards and gives students a chance to experience Shakespeare the way it was meant to be: live on stage.
