Help Us Build Our 30th Season: We’re Looking for Theatre Artists
Our 30th season is coming, and we want YOU behind the scenes.
We’re gearing up for Theatre Huntsville’s 30th season, and while we’re not quite ready to announce the shows yet (yes, we’re making you wait 😏), we are ready to start building the teams that will bring them to life.
We’re looking for local theatre artists interested in working with us in a variety of creative and production roles.
Whether you’ve been directing for years, you’re ready to assistant direct your first community theatre show, or you’ve always wanted to try your hand at stage management, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re Looking For:
🎭 Directors
Lead the artistic vision of a production, from developing the concept and working with designers to guiding actors through the rehearsal process and shaping the final performance.
🎬 Assistant Directors
Support the director throughout rehearsals and the production process. This can include helping with blocking, rehearsals, research, notes, communication, and generally being another set of creative hands (and eyes) in the room.
📋 Stage Managers
The organizational wizards of the theatre. Stage managers keep rehearsals running smoothly, communicate with the production team, track blocking and technical elements, coordinate backstage during performances, and help make sure everyone knows where they’re supposed to be—and when.
🎶 Music Directors
Lead the musical side of a production, working with singers and musicians to teach music, prepare vocalists, and help shape the musical performance alongside the director and production team.
💃 Choreographers
Create and teach movement for productions, from full musical numbers to smaller pieces of stage movement. Choreographers collaborate with directors to make sure the movement fits the story, characters, performers, and overall vision of the show.
🔨 Technical Directors
Turn the creative ideas of the director and designers into something that can actually exist onstage. Technical directors oversee the practical construction and implementation of scenery, props, special effects, and other technical elements while keeping safety, schedules, and budgets in mind.
🎨 Scenic Designers
Design the physical world of a production. Scenic designers work with the director and technical team to develop the look, layout, and functionality of the set and figure out how to make that magical drawing on paper become a real place actors can walk around in.
Who Should Apply?
You!
Seriously. We’re interested in hearing from artists with a range of experience. You don’t have to have a Broadway résumé, 47 productions under your belt, or a secret Tony Award hidden in your desk drawer.
We’re looking for people who are creative, collaborative, dependable, and excited about making theatre in Huntsville.
If you have experience in one of these areas, great.
If you’re looking to take the next step in your theatre career or try a new role, we’d love to hear about that, too.
Interested?
Send an email to production@theatrehsv.org by October 21 with:
A brief overview of your theatre experience or a résumé
The types of shows you’d be interested in working on
Any specific shows you’re particularly interested in working on (if you have some in mind)
The position(s) you’re interested in
You’re welcome to apply for more than one position!
Rehearsals typically run 6–8 weeks, and production positions generally include a small stipend.
Let’s Make Some Theatre
Our 30th season is a pretty big deal. We’re excited about what’s ahead, and we want to build it with the talented theatre community that makes Theatre Huntsville possible.
So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to direct that show, stage manage a production, design a set, teach a dance number, or finally put that suspiciously extensive theatre knowledge to good use…
This is your sign.
Email production@theatrehsv.org by October 21.
The shows may still be a secret.
The people making them happen don’t have to be.
